Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is delayed to Q3 2026. Cold Iron teases new archetypes and an Annihilation mode as EG7 invests $6.5M in the co-op shooter sequel.
Enad Global 7, the publisher of the original Aliens: Fireteam Elite, has postponed the sequel. According to the company, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is now slated for the third quarter of 2026, rather than 2025 as previously expected.
A leak from a July 2024 presentation effectively confirmed the follow-up, developed by Cold Iron Studios. It outlined five distinct character archetypes—Swift, Deadly, Silent, Commander, and Ranger—each with its own weapons and abilities. The project was also set to introduce a new Annihilation mode, inspired by classic horde-style challenges but with greater variety in objectives and enemies.
In its latest financial report, Enad Global 7 disclosed an additional $6.5 million investment in a new Cold Iron project, with the studio contributing a further $1.2 million of its own funds. While the name Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is not cited outright, the document specifies a cooperative action shooter based on a well-known film franchise—an unmistakable pointer to a continuation of the series.
The 2021 original drew mixed reviews. Despite capturing the Aliens atmosphere, critics highlighted repetitive missions and a thin sense of progression.
Judging by the new plans, Cold Iron seems intent on addressing those shortcomings and delivering a broader, more varied sequel—exactly the kind of course correction that benefits from extra time.
