Discover the DJI Osmo Action 6: a large 1/1.1-inch sensor, variable f/2.0–f/4.0 aperture, and Free Cut 4K for easy vertical/horizontal edits. Shoot smarter.

DJI has officially launched the Osmo Action 6, marking one of the most substantial updates to its action camera lineup in recent years. The model debuts a 1/1.1‑inch square CMOS sensor—large by action cam standards—and becomes the first DJI camera to feature a variable aperture.

The headline feature is Free Cut 4K: the camera records video that can later be easily switched between horizontal and vertical formats without losing quality. It’s a thoughtful nod to both classic widescreen footage and today’s vertical platforms, cutting down on reshoots and format compromises.

Osmo Action 6 supports aperture control from f/2.0 to f/4.0. In Auto, the camera selects the optimal setting for the available light; in the “super night” mode, it always opens to f/2.0 to let in more light, suppress noise, and produce softer background blur at close range. For bright scenes, a “star” mode stops down to f/4.0, creating distinctive star-shaped rays around light sources.

The camera is available in several bundles. The standard kit, priced at 2,998 yuan, includes the camera, a 1950 mAh battery, mounts, and a USB‑C (USB 3.1) cable. A vlogger-focused expanded set at 3,698 yuan adds two batteries, a charging case, a 1.5 m extension, and extra accessories. DJI Care plans are also offered: a one‑year option for 189 yuan and a two‑year option for 299 yuan, both covering multiple device replacements at a reduced cost along with traveler’s insurance.

DJI is clearly leaning into image quality, flexibility, and broader creative control. With its large sensor and variable aperture, the Osmo Action 6 nudges action cameras closer to the capabilities of professional compact models and sets a fresh reference point for rivals—a quiet but confident signal of where this category is headed.
