Leak suggests Huawei is testing a 7.6-inch wide-format foldable with a 5.5-inch cover screen, flagship chip and near-6000 mAh battery. See what's coming next.
A new leak out of China suggests that Huawei is working on another foldable device. Tipster Digital Chat Station says one of the leading smartphone makers has begun testing a large-screen foldable phone, hinting at a fresh push in this category.
According to the source, the device is expected to feature a 7.6-inch main display and a 5.5-inch cover screen with an aspect ratio of roughly 14:10, a flagship-grade processor, a periscope camera, and a battery approaching 6000 mAh. While the post does not explicitly name the brand, the reference to a next-generation flagship chip points toward Huawei. The tipster also notes that this is not the upcoming OPPO Find N6.
The insider suggests the newcomer could be the industry’s first wide-format foldable tablet, aligning with Huawei’s appetite for distinctive form factors. The company has already released the Pura X, described as the first wide-format foldable smartphone, equipped with a 6.3-inch OLED display and a 3.5-inch external screen. Taken together, the direction looks intentional: a deliberate move toward broader canvases rather than iterative tweaks.
If the rumors hold, Huawei may position the new device as a response to Apple’s anticipated iPhone Fold, which is rumored to offer a 7.7-inch screen with a comparable aspect ratio.
A wide-format design like this promises a more natural experience for movies, reading, and gaming—without constantly pinching to zoom. On paper, that focus feels practical, playing to how people actually use big screens day to day.
