vivo previews the S50 and S50 Pro Mini: Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, LPDDR5x + UFS 4.1, 1.5K 120 Hz OLED, 50MP periscope and 90W charging, launching in China December.
vivo is gearing up to unveil its S50 smartphone line in China this December and has started sharing the headline features. Product manager Han Boxiao said on Weibo that the S50 devices aim for flagship-level performance, a promise that sets expectations high ahead of launch.
According to the company representative, the entire lineup will use fast LPDDR5x memory rated at 9,600 Mbps alongside UFS 4.1 storage. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset is also confirmed and will most likely appear in the vivo S50 Pro Mini. Pairing that silicon with speedy memory suggests a strong emphasis on raw performance.
The vivo S50 Pro Mini is expected to include an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint reader and a 50‑megapixel periscope Sony IMX882 camera. Some reports indicate the standard S50 could also adopt a Snapdragon 8‑series chip rather than the previously mentioned Snapdragon 7 Gen 4; if so, the base model would be more ambitious than early whispers implied.
Leaks point to a 6.59‑inch 1.5K OLED display at 120 Hz for the vivo S50, while the S50 Pro Mini will be more compact with a 6.31‑inch screen offering the same parameters. Both models are said to feature a triple camera setup with a periscope lens and support 90 W fast charging. On paper, the combination of high‑refresh displays, long‑reach telephoto, and rapid charging looks like a confident step toward premium territory.
