ROG Ally X update boosts FPS and stability, extends battery life, adds a 40 FPS cap for the 120 Hz display, improves Modern Standby, and refines firmware.

ROG Xbox Ally has received its most substantial update since launch—one that sharpens performance, stretches battery life, and steadies in-game behavior. The update is now available to users and brings a set of features the community has been asking for since day one.

The system now includes expanded controls for performance and efficiency cores on the X version, a quick jump to full-screen mode, and an adjusted frame-rate cap from 45 to 40 FPS to better align with the 120 Hz display. Power usage in Modern Standby has been improved, while a new AMD driver boosts FPS and overall game stability.

The manufacturer also refined the firmware and lifted overall system responsiveness. Considering battery life has long been a weak spot for handheld gaming PCs, these tweaks may meaningfully change everyday use and make the Ally a more appealing pick for anyone who wants portable PC gaming without staying tethered to a charger.
