Microsoft confirms Windows 11 24H2/25H2 issues after KB5062553, affecting Start menu, taskbar, File Explorer and Settings. Fixes soon; SIHost.exe restart helps.
Microsoft has officially acknowledged problems in Windows following user complaints. The glitches affect versions 24H2 and 25H2 and hit core parts of the operating system, including the Start menu, the taskbar, File Explorer, and the Settings app.
The issues surfaced after the KB5062553 update rolled out over the summer, but the company only recognized them in November—an awkward gap for anyone affected. For now, a stopgap exists for experienced users: restarting the Shell Infrastructure Host (SIHost.exe) to bring back some Immersive Shell functions. It helps in a pinch, though it’s hardly a comfortable path for most users.
Microsoft says all the glitches will be addressed in upcoming updates. November is also set to bring a major Windows 11 release with AI agents designed to run tasks in the background and make working with the system easier—an update many will be watching closely.
