Early leaks hint Huawei Pura X2 is in development, bringing a next-gen vertical foldable with a 16:10 widescreen and Kirin 9030, targeting a Q1 launch in China.
Huawei is lining up a successor to its unconventional vertical foldable: the Pura X2 is already in development, with the first details emerging in China. A recent leak points to a launch in the first quarter of next year, likely sometime between January and March.
The original Pura X, released in March, stood apart among foldables thanks to its format and unusual aspect ratio. Unfolded, it opens to a 16:10 widescreen, making it appreciably wider than any current flip-style models. The experiment appears to have landed well, and Huawei is doubling down on the concept.
According to rumors, the Pura X2 will be powered by the new Kirin 9030, which feels like a sensible follow-up to the Kirin 9020 used in the first iteration. For now, that’s the only specification insiders are mentioning; no other technical particulars have been disclosed.
Further leaks are likely on the horizon. The Pura line has already drawn interest for its unorthodox design, so information on the camera, display, and build should surface over the coming months.
