Leaks detail Apple's budget iPhone 17e for 2026: no notch display, A19 chip, 6.1-inch 60 Hz panel, 48MP rear and 18MP selfie cameras, C1 modem, N1 wireless.
New details have surfaced about the upcoming iPhone 17e, which rumors say Apple will unveil in early 2026. A recent leak suggests the device will finally drop the large top-of-screen cutout that lingered on the iPhone 16e. A concept created by enthusiasts and published by MyDrivers points to a design closer to the standard iPhone 17, but with a single main camera.
The headline change is up front: indicators and sensors would no longer sit in an ‘island’, leaving the display looking cleaner. Even so, a major technical leap isn’t on the cards. The screen will likely keep its 6.1‑inch size and a standard 60 Hz refresh rate, which underlines its positioning as the budget-friendly option.
For performance, insiders point to a new A19 chip, though Apple may pare back the number of graphics cores to set the iPhone 17e apart from higher-end models. The strategy appears aimed at owners of older devices — especially the iPhone 11 — who want a modern upgrade without paying flagship prices.
An upgraded front camera is also expected: earlier leaks mentioned an 18‑megapixel sensor with Center Stage support. The main rear camera is set to get a 48‑megapixel module, a noticeable step forward for the series.
Connectivity may shift as well: the iPhone 17e is credited with Apple’s own C1 modem and an N1 wireless chip. These components are designed to boost data speeds and improve power efficiency, helping the budget version inch closer to flagship capabilities.
If the leaks hold, the iPhone 17e could become the most advanced device in the lineup and significantly narrow the gap between Apple’s entry-level and top-tier models.
