Early leaks suggest Samsung’s SM-F971 may debut as a Galaxy Z Fold FE or a wider-display variant to counter a 2026 foldable iPhone. Details remain unconfirmed.

It looks like Samsung is developing two Fold-style foldable phones at once, and one of them isn’t the Galaxy Z Fold8. Clues point to a device labeled SM-F971. Internally it goes by H8, which doesn’t match the Fold8’s identifiers—SM-F976 and the codename Q8. The F971 model number also clearly places it in the Fold family, since Flip devices start with a 7.

That numbering logic nudges SM-F971 toward a Galaxy Z Fold FE. Flip FE carries SM-F761, and a possible Flip FE 2 would be SM-F771. If you swap the “7” for a “9,” which in this framework aligns with the book-style form factor, you get SM-F971—a tidy fit for a Fold FE label.

There’s another angle, though. Some sources believe SM-F971 could inaugurate a new Fold approach with a wider outer display (18:9) and a square inner panel. This design is said to be taking shape in response to a future foldable iPhone, likewise rumored to favor a broader aspect ratio and to arrive in 2026.

For now, these are early leaks and educated guesses, but the outline is intriguing: Samsung may be preparing either a more accessible Fold FE or a fresh branch within the Z Fold line. More concrete details should surface closer to launch; until then, it’s a waiting game.
