Nothing pauses the Nothing OS 4.0 Android 16 update, citing an urgent fix. Rollout resumes after testing; affected Phone models get a corrected build.

It appears that Nothing has temporarily halted the rollout of the Nothing OS 4.0 update based on Android 16. While the company hasn’t said so publicly, users have noticed that the new firmware has stopped arriving on devices despite the recent announcement.

Nothing OS 4.0 debuted on November 21, initially reaching Phone 3 owners. On November 28, it expanded to other models: Phone 2, Phone 2a, Phone 2a Plus, as well as Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro. Now it’s becoming clear that the rollout has been interrupted for reasons that haven’t been disclosed.

On Reddit, several users reported that the update never appeared even after Nothing announced its release. One Phone 3 owner said they reached out to support, received a standard reply at first, and after pressing for details, were told the update is indeed paused for the time being.

To support that claim, the user shared a screenshot of their chat with customer service. In it, Nothing said it had stopped distribution to implement an urgent fix and would resume once internal testing is complete. Those who already installed Nothing OS 4.0 will receive the corrected build when it’s ready.

Nothing has yet to make an official statement about the pause. Considering the update was presented as stable, the silence hardly reassures; a straightforward note to users would likely prevent much of the confusion.
