Japanese startup Soxai has officially introduced the Soxai Ring 2 in its home market, focusing on compact design, deeper sleep tracking, and a subscription-free experience. The device builds on the previous model and enters the compact health wearables space already populated by players like Oura and Samsung.

The standout upgrade is a new in-house optical PPG sensor called Deep Sensing. Soxai says it delivers higher accuracy for heart rate and blood oxygen measurements, sleep stage tracking, and indicators related to sleep apnea risk. The ring also relies on a 3D accelerometer with AI-driven processing and a skin temperature sensor, aiming to provide a more layered view of a user’s condition.

Beyond the sensors, the hardware has slimmed down. The ring is 6.7 millimeters wide and 2.7 millimeters thick, with weight ranging from 2.1 to 2.7 grams depending on size. The exterior uses a titanium alloy, while the inner surface is made from synthetic resin. Buyers can choose from five finishes: silver, matte silver, matte black, rose gold, and gold.

Battery life reaches up to 14 days, and a full charge over NFC wireless charging takes between one and two hours. Connectivity comes via Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0, and the ring can be submerged to 100 meters, which keeps it practical for everyday wear and more.

All metrics are presented in a companion mobile app, where users can view a sleep score, duration, nighttime patterns, and get recommendations to improve sleep habits. Soxai notes that the app’s algorithms were developed under the supervision of specialists associated with the Japanese Society of Sleep Research. Blood pressure measurement is not part of the feature set.

In Japan, the Soxai Ring 2 is priced at 39,980 yen, with no subscription required. It is already on sale through Soxai’s online store and major Japanese retailers, though international shipments are not planned at this time. The lack of ongoing fees should resonate with those who prefer a straightforward, one-time purchase.
