Windows 10 update KB5071546 is breaking the MSMQ service in enterprises. See the symptoms, Microsoft's response, and the safe workaround to restore stability.

December’s Windows 10 update has brought unexpected trouble for some enterprise users. Update KB5071546 has disrupted the Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ) system service, which handles messaging between applications and manages background processes.

After installation, administrators began encountering errors pointing to insufficient system resources. As a result, applications that depend on MSMQ either stop executing tasks correctly or fail to launch altogether. The issue is most visible in setups where the service underpins automation and data-queue handling—the kind of plumbing that, once it stumbles, sends ripples through day-to-day operations.

Microsoft has acknowledged the bug and said engineers are already working on a fix. Until a corrective patch arrives, the advised workaround is straightforward: uninstall the problematic update to restore system stability. It’s hardly ideal, but it brings services back online while a permanent solution is in the works.
