NVIDIA may cut RTX 50-series GPU output in 2026 amid a DRAM shortage; Blackwell gaming shipments could drop 40% in Q1, squeezing supply for PC builders.

Chinese forums are reporting that NVIDIA plans to significantly cut production of its RTX 50‑series GPUs in 2026. While the chatter remains unconfirmed, a shortage of DRAM is already squeezing supply chains and forcing manufacturers to look for alternative measures; against that backdrop, the rumor doesn’t come out of nowhere.

The company, for now, is not planning to raise graphics card prices, choosing to reduce output instead to keep supplies stable and avoid sharp market swings. Early indications suggest that shipments of Blackwell gaming GPUs could fall by 40% in the first quarter of 2026, which would leave the retail market short of RTX 50 cards.

That prospect is especially unwelcome for gamers planning a new PC build or an upgrade. The memory crunch has already become a serious problem for the consumer PC segment, and there is still no clear forecast for when the market will return to normal.
