Sony Honda says Afeela 1 EV will support PlayStation Remote Play, streaming PS4/PS5 games to in-car displays for riders. California deliveries begin in 2026.
Sony and Honda’s joint venture has officially confirmed that the production Afeela 1 electric car will support PlayStation Remote Play, letting occupants play PS4 and PS5 titles from inside the vehicle. The announcement came on December 18, with deliveries of the first Afeela 1 model slated to begin in California in 2026.
Created in 2022 under Sony Honda Mobility, the Afeela brand targets next-generation EVs. Remote Play support will be built into the car’s infotainment system, enabling passengers to launch games directly on the cabin screens.
This isn’t PlayStation Plus cloud gaming but the remote-access feature. To make it work, users will need a PS4 or PS5 switched on at home; video and controls are then streamed to the car over the internet. In effect, the Afeela 1 becomes a display and input device for the home console.
Sony Honda Mobility notes that the large built-in displays and quality audio system should make gaming comfortable while parked or on long trips, turning the cabin into a full-fledged entertainment space for passengers. Company president Izumi Kawanishi said the PlayStation integration reflects Afeela’s philosophy of treating the car as more than transport—an emotionally rich digital environment. The approach feels like a natural extension of Sony’s ecosystem.
Meanwhile, in-car gaming is evolving elsewhere. Microsoft previously announced Xbox Cloud Gaming support in vehicles running LG webOS Automotive, which requires an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription and a mobile internet connection. With Afeela, Sony is betting on deeper integration with its own ecosystem and the console experiences users already know.
