Huawei nova 15, Pro and Ultra unveiled: displays, cameras, battery

Huawei officially introduced the nova 15 smartphone series in China, bringing three models at once: nova 15, nova 15 Pro, and nova 15 Ultra. The most striking change is a fully reworked back with a distinctive dual-ring camera module that now defines a clearer visual identity for the lineup.

The Pro and Ultra move to expansive 6.84-inch LTPO OLED displays with an adaptive refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz and peak brightness up to 4,000 nits. The screen is protected by Kunlun glass, while a 50 MP front camera sits in a pill-shaped cutout alongside a multispectral sensor — a pairing that points to a strong emphasis on imaging and display quality.

On the back, the nova 15 Ultra carries a triple array of 50 MP RYYB sensors, combining a main lens with a variable aperture and a periscope telephoto offering 3.7x optical zoom. The Pro version opts for a more compact yet still capable camera setup with optical stabilization, suggesting a practical balance between size and performance.

Both models are powered by the new Kirin 9010S chip, which brings performance gains over the previous generation. They support satellite connectivity, carry IP68 and IP69 protection ratings, and run HarmonyOS 6.0. A 6,500 mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100 W fast charging handles power needs, and the Ultra adds 50 W wireless charging — a combination that reads as unusually robust for a style-driven series.

The standard nova 15 features a 6.7-inch OLED display at 120 Hz with a single punch-hole for its 50 MP selfie camera. The main camera block also uses RYYB sensors, including a telephoto unit and a multispectral sensor. Inside is the Kirin 8020, delivering a noticeable boost over the previous generation. The phone supports satellite connectivity, runs HarmonyOS 6.0, and includes a 6,000 mAh battery with 100 W fast charging, along with IP65 protection.
