Read our POCO F7 review: Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 speed, 6.83-inch 1.5K 120 Hz AMOLED, 6,500 mAh battery, 90 W charging, solid IP68 design, and camera pros and cons

POCO F7 is POCO’s new smartphone, bringing near-flagship hardware to a more accessible price point. Here’s a clear-eyed look at the device—its display, performance, cameras, battery life, and other features—highlighting both strengths and trade-offs.

Design and display

An aluminum frame and a glass back give the POCO F7 a solid feel, and IP68 certification adds dust and water resistance. Up front sits a 6.83-inch AMOLED with razor-thin bezels. The panel delivers extremely high brightness with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support; the 1.5K resolution keeps text and visuals crisp, and the 120 Hz refresh rate makes the interface glide.

Performance and software

The phone runs on the near-flagship Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. Paired with 16 GB of RAM, it offers very high speed—menus and apps respond without hesitation. Under prolonged maximum load, the device heats up noticeably and may automatically dim the display to protect itself from overheating. It ships with Android 15 and HyperOS, and the manufacturer promises four years of OS updates and six years of regular security patches. Day to day it feels effortlessly quick; push it hard for long stretches, and the thermal ceiling makes itself known.

Cameras

A 50 MP main camera with optical stabilization produces high-quality shots in good light and handles night mode respectably. The secondary modules are much simpler: the 8 MP ultrawide is middling and lacks autofocus, and there is no telephoto lens. The 2x zoom relies solely on a digital crop—acceptable by day, but quality drops sharply in the dark. The 20 MP front camera is suitable for selfies and video calls.

Overall, the POCO F7 comes across like classic gaming-focused phones: most of the attention goes to performance and looks, while photography plays a supporting role.

Battery and charging

The POCO F7 carries a 6,500 mAh battery—a serious step up compared to last year’s phones. With moderate use, the device can run for up to two days on a charge. The 90 W wired fast charger fills the battery in roughly 40 minutes, though the fast-charging mode needs to be enabled in the settings.

Verdict

The POCO F7 lands as a well-balanced package without glaring flaws. Standout strengths include high performance, an excellent bright display, a capacious battery, and a sturdy IP68-rated body. On the flip side, there’s noticeable heat under load, a simplified camera system with no telephoto, and the absence of several modern conveniences such as wireless charging or eSIM. For buyers who prioritize speed, screen quality, and endurance over camera versatility, it makes a persuasive case.
