Leaks point to Apple's iPhone Air 2 launching in September 2026 with vapor chamber cooling and a dual-camera upgrade. Rumors flag iPhone 17e with A19, MagSafe.

Apple’s iPhone roadmap is once again in flux. Earlier leaks pointed to the iPhone Air 2 being pushed to 2027, but fresh chatter from China suggests a quicker turnaround. According to the well-known leaker Fixed Focus Digital, the second-generation ultrathin iPhone is now planned for September 2026.

It had been assumed Apple paused the line because of weak sales of the first iPhone Air and technical hiccups. The device impressed with its design, yet struggled with overheating and launched with only one camera — a questionable choice for the premium tier. New signals indicate Apple won’t shelve the idea but will refine it, aiming to make the Air 2 more practical — a pragmatic course correction that feels overdue.

Among the standout upgrades could be an advanced cooling system based on a vapor chamber, a technology more common in gaming phones. That should help a slim chassis handle sustained workloads without throttling. Just as crucial would be a move to a dual-camera setup, as buyers are increasingly reluctant to pay top dollar for a single lens.

If the rumors hold, the iPhone Air 2 would slot in as a stylish alternative to the future iPhone 18 Pro and Apple’s first foldable. Pricing may also be adjusted to broaden its appeal beyond those who buy on looks alone. In parallel, Apple is said to be preparing more affordable hardware: sources claim the iPhone 17e is already in mass production and likely to debut in spring 2026. It is expected to feature an A19 processor and MagSafe support, strengthening Apple’s hand in the midrange.
