Samsung adds Google Photos to smart TVs in 2026, debuting Memories, AI editing, and Vision AI Companion integration for tailored, themed slideshows at home.

Samsung has announced the launch of Google Photos on its smart TVs, marking the service’s first appearance as a full-fledged app on TV platforms. Notably, even Android TV sets still don’t have native Google Photos support, effectively putting Samsung a step ahead of Google’s own ecosystem.

The rollout will unfold in stages starting in 2026. The first feature, Memories, is slated to arrive in March on compatible Samsung TVs. It automatically assembles photo collections and storylines based on people, places, and meaningful events, turning the television into a spacious personal photo album and nudging the living-room screen closer to a family hub.

Later in 2026, users will gain access to Create with AI, which includes the Nano Banana tool. It enables AI-powered photo edits, lets viewers apply themed templates, and adds Remix effects directly on the TV—no smartphone or computer required. The ability to tweak images on a big screen hints at a broader push to make TVs more than just passive displays.

A third capability, Personalized Results, will arrive afterward, delivering tailored slideshows organized by themes or specific memories. All of these features will be deeply integrated with Vision AI Companion, Samsung’s built-in AI assistant for TVs.

In effect, Samsung is positioning the TV as a central device for managing personal media, leaning on AI and tight ties to Google’s services—a rare instance where a partner brand brings a Google app to the TV first.
