See how OnePlus boosts Android update support: 3 major releases for older models and up to 4 versions on newer phones and tablets, including 12R, 11R & Nord 3.
OnePlus has been steadily tightening its software-update policy, and a number of the brand’s devices now have a guaranteed path to three major Android releases. The commitment spans both smartphones and tablets introduced in recent years, with an extended support window baked in from the outset.
That roster covers models from the OnePlus 10, 11 and 12 series, along with several of the brand’s tablets. For instance, the OnePlus 12R is slated to finish on Android 17, while the 11R and Nord 3 are set to receive updates through Android 16. Earlier models such as the 10R and 10T also retain eligibility for three major OS upgrades, which keeps them relevant against direct competitors.
Tablets deserve separate mention. The first OnePlus Pad will be updated up to Android 16, and the newer Pad 2 and Pad 3 are in line for support through Android 17 and Android 18, respectively. It signals that OnePlus is extending its long-term support focus to the tablet segment as well.
In a broader shift, recent years have seen the brand promise even longer timelines—up to four Android versions—even on mid-range devices. That approach makes Nord smartphones and OnePlus tablets more appealing to buyers planning to hold on to their hardware for years without it feeling outdated.
