DJI confirms the Mini 5 Pro launch for September 17, with a 1-inch 50MP camera, 4K/120 HDR, night mode, obstacle sensing, and 36-minute flights in a 249g body.

DJI has confirmed the launch date for its next Mini-series drone, the DJI Mini 5 Pro: the debut is set for September 17, with preorders opening the same day. The company says this model brings the biggest camera upgrade in the lineup’s history.

Replacing the Mini 4 Pro’s 1/1.3-inch 48MP sensor, the new drone moves to a 1-inch 50MP module with a 24mm equivalent focal length and an f/1.8 aperture. The camera can capture 4K at up to 120 fps and supports HDR, a night mode, and digital zoom.

On the features side, the Mini 5 Pro adds a wide slate of intelligent tools: ActiveTrack 360°, Waypoint, Cruise Control, an expanded Follow mode, and a LADAR system (Lidar Assisted Detection and Ranging). Stabilization comes via a gimbal with 225° of rotation, enabling true vertical shooting tailored to social platforms.

Despite the upgrades, the drone weighs just 249 g, which makes it convenient for flying without additional registration in several countries. It also includes omnidirectional obstacle sensors, OcuSync 4 Plus transmission, and a battery rated for 36 minutes of flight.

Taken together, the DJI Mini 5 Pro looks set to push the line forward for aerial photo and video enthusiasts, delivering flagship-level features in an ultracompact body.
