Early look at iOS 27: Snow Leopard–style polish, foldable iPhone UI, refined Liquid Glass design, deeper Apple Intelligence, Health+ and satellite features.
Apple is preparing iOS 27, and while the launch is still some distance away, early leaks sketch a clearer picture of what’s coming. According to insiders, the company plans to emphasize stability, performance, and the refinement of what’s already there rather than stacking up new features. Inside Apple, iOS 27 is even being compared to the legendary Snow Leopard—an update remembered for polishing the platform to a shine. The comparison sets the tone: less spectacle, more substance.
One likely driver of these broad internal changes is the first foldable iPhone. The iPhone Fold is expected to arrive in 2026 with two displays—about 5.4 inches when folded and roughly 7.7 inches unfolded. That will call for a reworked interface, new display modes, multitasking elements, and an iOS that adapts to a screen size that shifts on the fly. Designing for a shape‑shifting canvas rarely leaves room for quick fixes, so a deeper rethink makes sense.
Rumors also point to continued evolution of the Liquid Glass design introduced in iOS 26. Apple intends to factor in user feedback to make the interface more convenient and cohesive. In parallel, the company plans to expand Apple Intelligence: AI capabilities could be more deeply woven into system apps, and Siri may gain both new ways of working and a refreshed visual presence with more lifelike animation. Taken together, it signals a push toward a system that feels more unified and responsive.
Health and satellite features are expected to get special attention as well. iOS 27 may debut a paid Health+ service with personalized nutrition recommendations and analysis of health metrics, along with new satellite capabilities—from Apple Maps over satellite to APIs for third‑party apps. The iOS 27 presentation is expected at WWDC in the summer of 2026, with the release traditionally arriving in the fall alongside new iPhones.
