New leaks reveal iPhone 18 Pro models may get under-display Face ID, while others keep Dynamic Island. All models feature 120Hz LTPO OLED displays. Learn more.

New leaks about the iPhone 18 lineup have surfaced online, hinting at a cautious yet significant step in Apple's design evolution. According to insider Digital Chat Station, the company is preparing a redesigned under-display Face ID system for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models, while the iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 will retain the familiar Dynamic Island.

It is reported that all four devices will feature LTPO OLED displays with a 120Hz refresh rate. The base iPhone 18 will come with a 6.27-inch screen and Dynamic Island, similar to current models. The iPhone 18 Pro, with the same display size, and the iPhone 18 Pro Max, with a 6.88-inch screen, are rumored to receive a special under-display area where part of the Face ID components will be relocated. The iPhone Air 2, in turn, will keep the Dynamic Island and get a 6.55-inch display.

By "under-display area," sources mean a partial relocation of Face ID sensors beneath the panel, which could reduce the notch and move closer to a fully hidden facial recognition system and front camera. There has been previous information that Apple is considering this approach as an intermediate step before a full under-display Face ID, which might debut in anniversary iPhone models.

Overall, the leak suggests that the iPhone 18 series will not bring radical external changes compared to the iPhone 17. The main differences are likely to be hidden inside—in hardware components, displays, and the gradual redesign of the Face ID system. Mass production of the lineup is expected to start by mid-February 2026, so more precise details could emerge in the coming months.
