Xiaomi rolls out HyperOS 3 based on Android 15 to Xiaomi 12, 12S series, and other models in beta. Learn about the update and global release expectations.
Xiaomi has begun rolling out a HyperOS 3 update based on Android 15 to a new wave of devices. This special firmware version differs from earlier HyperOS 3 releases, as it is specifically built on Android 15 and was previously made available for the Redmi K60 and Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro. Now, the update is expanding to flagship smartphones from past generations, including the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12S series, along with several other models.
Currently, the firmware is only available in China and is being distributed through the Mi Pilot program, meaning it is in beta testing. The update has already reached the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro, 12S Ultra, as well as the Xiaomi Civi 3 and the foldable Xiaomi MIX Fold 2. To install it, users need to register for the beta testing program, after which the firmware becomes available for download. Once Xiaomi confirms the build's stability and the absence of critical bugs, the update will be rolled out to regular users as well.
Xiaomi has not yet announced official timelines for a global release of HyperOS 3 based on Android 15. However, the inclusion of models like the Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro, and Civi 3, which are sold outside China, suggests that an international launch could happen in the coming weeks. Typically, Xiaomi follows this pattern: updates first debut in the home market before gradually spreading to other regions.
