Leaked renders of the iPhone 18 Pro hint at a smaller notch, new colors, and a variable aperture camera. Get the latest rumors on design and specs.
A new video with renders of the iPhone 18 Pro has surfaced online, showcasing a potential design update for Apple's future flagship. The clip was published by well-known insider Jon Prosser, who claims the images are based on early information about a device prototype. Beyond the visual changes, he also mentioned three new body colors: burgundy, brown, and purple.
The most noticeable innovation concerns the front of the smartphone. According to the renders, Apple may significantly shrink the familiar notch by moving some Face ID components under the screen. This would leave only a small hole for the front-facing camera, which is said to shift to the top-left corner. The Dynamic Island is not going away. Prosser states that Apple will keep this feature, but it will be adapted to the new camera placement and occupy less screen space, becoming less intrusive. This means the company will continue evolving an already familiar concept rather than abandoning it entirely.
Changes are also expected in the main camera. The source claims the iPhone 18 Pro could get a system with a variable aperture. Unlike current models, where the blur effect is mostly achieved through software, this technology would allow the lens to physically adjust the amount of light. This would improve low-light photography and create more natural-looking bokeh, though the feature might be exclusive to the Pro Max version.
Important internal updates are on the horizon as well. The iPhone 18 Pro is rumored to feature a new A20 Pro chip and a switch to Apple's own C2 modem. Additionally, Apple may simplify the camera control button by ditching the capacitive sensor in favor of a mechanism that recognizes pressure sensitivity. All this information remains unofficial for now, but the leak offers a glimpse into the direction Apple might take with the design and functionality of its future iPhones.
