WhatsApp is testing a feature to let users view who can see their statuses and if resharing is allowed. Currently in beta for Android.
WhatsApp is testing a new feature that lets users check the privacy settings of their published statuses. This allows them to see exactly who had access to a specific status and whether resharing is permitted.
The feature was found in the WhatsApp beta for Android, build 2.26.2.9, and is currently available to only a limited number of users. The messaging app continues to experiment with tools aimed at increasing transparency in privacy settings.
After posting a status, the new option opens a view list and goes to an "Audience" section. There, it displays information about which user groups could see that status and indicates if resharing is allowed. This eliminates the need to delete content due to doubts about whether visibility parameters were set correctly.
The feature is still in the testing phase, and WhatsApp has not revealed when it will appear in the stable app version. It's possible that after the beta test, the mechanism will be refined or changed before a wider launch.
