Samsung Display and Harman Automotive provide OLED screens for the Zeekr 9X hybrid SUV, featuring three displays for front and rear entertainment, highlighting automotive tech trends.
Samsung Display and Harman Automotive are strengthening their positions in the automotive technology market with a new agreement to supply OLED screens for the upcoming hybrid SUV, the Zeekr 9X, developed by China's Geely. This three-screen configuration highlights the growing importance of multimedia systems in modern vehicles, transforming the cabin into a full-fledged digital space.
The Zeekr 9X will feature three displays: two 16-inch OLED panels for the front of the cabin and one 17-inch screen for rear passengers. The central information display (CID) will serve as the primary driver interface, showing vehicle parameters, navigation, multimedia functions, and smartphone connectivity via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Meanwhile, the 16-inch passenger information display (PID) allows the front passenger to comfortably view content and interact with car features without distracting the driver.
Special attention has been given to the rear-seat entertainment system. The 17-inch OLED screen will extend from the ceiling, offering passengers a wide viewing angle. Zeekr claims this will be the world's first "wing-shaped" retractable display, making the vehicle stand out even among premium competitors. This approach shows the manufacturer aims not just to add a screen but to create a "cinema" effect right inside the cabin.
For Samsung, this move is significant as the company continues to expand its collaboration with global automakers and strengthen its influence in the automotive OLED segment. An executive from Samsung Display, Choi Yong-seok, stated that they will keep producing high-performance products with unique advantages, deepen partnerships with worldwide car manufacturers, and drive growth in the automotive OLED market.
Overall, equipping the Zeekr 9X with such screens underscores a trend: cars are no longer just transportation but are becoming digital platforms where comfort and entertainment are part of the standard package. In this context, Samsung emerges as a key supplier setting standards for quality and design.
