A new navigation system for motorcyclists, built on Android Automotive OS, offers 3D maps, AI route planning, and safety warnings. It debuted at CES 2026.
A new navigation system designed specifically for motorcyclists is in development, focusing on their actual needs rather than simply adapting automotive solutions. Magic Lane and P3 digital services have joined forces to introduce specialized navigation for the Android Automotive-based SPARQ OS platform, tailored specifically for riders. The solution made its global debut at CES 2026.
Unlike Android Auto and CarPlay, which merely mirror smartphone screens, Android Automotive OS operates independently and allows deep integration of navigation into the vehicle's onboard system. Using this approach, developers have created a comprehensive motorcycle interface featuring 3D maps, flexible display modes, a night theme, and an emphasis on road terrain and geometry.
A key feature of the new system is its intelligent "Be Careful" warnings. These analyze the route and driving conditions, discreetly alerting riders to potential risks such as slippery surfaces or strong crosswinds. Notifications appear only when genuinely important, helping to enhance safety without distracting the rider from the road.
Another important function is the AI agent for route planning. It understands user requests and suggests optimal trip options, considering not just speed but also the enjoyment of the ride. The system can recommend scenic roads with smooth curves instead of boring highways, and it quickly locates points of interest, cafes, and attractions.
For motorcycle manufacturers, the solution is also advantageous: Magic Lane navigation is already built into SPARQ OS, which simplifies integration and accelerates the launch of new models to market. Ultimately, both OEM partners and motorcyclists benefit, gaining a safer, more aware, and more engaging navigation experience.
