Apple plans to launch a powerful AI chatbot integrated with Siri and a wearable AI key fob in 2027, using Google's cloud to compete with ChatGPT and OpenAI.
Apple is gearing up for a major push into artificial intelligence with plans to introduce two new products in 2027. According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, the company intends to launch a full-fledged chatbot integrated with Siri, positioning it as a direct competitor to ChatGPT, alongside a wearable AI device in the form of a smart key fob.
The new chatbot will differ from the updated voice assistant expected in iOS 26.4. It won't appear as a standalone app but will be deeply embedded into the Apple ecosystem. To power the model, Apple plans to utilize Google's cloud infrastructure and TPU accelerators, indicating a significantly more powerful AI than what the company currently employs.
Gurman reports that the chatbot will be capable of searching the web, generating text and images, assisting with programming, analyzing documents and uploaded files, and considering the user's personal context. Siri will gain the ability to "see" screen content and open app windows, as well as manage device settings at a deeper level.
Beyond software innovations, Apple is also developing a hardware AI product—a compact wearable AI Pin roughly the size of an AirTag. The device will feature a camera, microphones, a speaker, and support for wireless charging. Preliminary estimates suggest Apple aims to sell up to 20 million of these gadgets, underscoring the seriousness of its ambitions in competing with OpenAI and other players in the consumer AI market.
