Discover the Anbernic RG G01, a unique gamepad featuring a built-in HD screen for on-device customization and a heart rate sensor for gaming sessions.
Anbernic, known for its retro consoles, is preparing to launch an unusual gamepad. The company has unveiled the RG G01, a controller with a built-in screen and heart rate sensor that seems to straddle the line between practicality and pure curiosity. This isn't a second screen for gaming like the Wii U, but a separate interface for configuring the gamepad itself without needing a computer or smartphone.
The focus is on a 2.5-inch HD display, which Anbernic calls a "smart screen." Through it, users can remap buttons, set up macros, and adjust settings directly on the device, without any third-party software. The idea is to make customization as quick and autonomous as possible, which could appeal to players who frequently switch platforms or control profiles.
The strangest feature is the built-in heart rate sensor. According to Anbernic, it's meant to track the user's condition during intense gaming sessions. The practical value of this addition is questionable, but it fits perfectly into the concept of an "unusual gadget" and clearly aims to surprise.
Technically, the RG G01 looks solid: the gamepad supports Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4 GHz wireless connection, and wired mode, with compatibility for PC, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS. It boasts a polling rate of up to 1000 Hz, calibration for sticks, triggers, and gyroscope, plus several programmable buttons on the back panel.
Release dates and pricing haven't been revealed yet—Anbernic has only said it's "coming soon." Overall, the company appears to be betting not just on functionality, but also on viral appeal: the RG G01 is clearly designed for those who love quirky, memorable gaming accessories.
