Xiaomi confirms Redmi Turbo 5 launch on January 29, 2026 in China, featuring MediaTek Dimensity 8500, dual-camera setup, and compact design.
Xiaomi has officially confirmed the launch date for its Redmi Turbo 5 series in China. The presentation is scheduled for January 29, 2026. Alongside the announcement, the company revealed the base version of the smartphone for the first time, which had not appeared in previous teasers and remained a mystery until now. Based on the published images, the standard Redmi Turbo 5 looks almost identical to the Max version, maintaining the overall design of the lineup.
The device features a dual-camera setup on the rear panel with the same module placement as the higher-end model, though it uses a single flash instead of a dual one. Details about the sensors themselves are not yet available, and Xiaomi has not clarified whether they will match the cameras on the Turbo 5 Max. The smartphone's body includes a metal frame, and a screen with rounded corners is expected to make it more comfortable for daily use. Preliminary information suggests the display diagonal will be around 6.59 inches, making the new model more compact than the Max version.
Xiaomi has placed particular emphasis on performance. The Redmi Turbo 5 will run on the new MediaTek Dimensity 8500 processor, which was introduced alongside the 9500 series chips. Early tests indicate that the performance increase compared to the Dimensity 8400 might be modest, but real-world results will become clear after sales begin and independent benchmarks emerge.
The price has not been officially announced yet, but last year's Redmi Turbo 4, which launched at 1,999 yuan, could serve as a reference point. This suggests the new model will likely remain an affordable yet well-equipped mid-range smartphone. Xiaomi may reveal more details about the device before the presentation in China.
