OnePlus 16 leak reveals specs for next flagship smartphone

The OnePlus 16 could become one of the most distinctive flagship phones of the next generation, if a recent leak proves accurate. Although the company only recently unveiled its current lineup, insiders are already detailing potential specifications for the upcoming model, which promises significant leaps in display, camera, and battery life.

According to well-known tipster Debayan Roy, the OnePlus 16 will feature a display with a refresh rate up to 240 Hz. This is an extremely high figure, even for gaming phones, and it remains unclear how actively such capabilities will be utilized in real-world apps and games. The panel is reportedly still a flat LTPO OLED from BOE with 1.5K resolution, echoing the approach of the OnePlus 15 but with a focus on maximum smoothness.

Inside, the device is expected to house the new top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor, which could mark the next step in the Elite series, offering improvements in CPU performance, graphics, energy efficiency, and AI tasks. Simultaneously, OnePlus might surprise with a massive 9,000 mAh battery supporting 100-watt wired charging and 50-watt wireless charging.

Cameras also look set to be a strong point. The leak mentions a triple-camera module with a 200 MP main sensor, complemented by a 50 MP ultrawide and a 50 MP telephoto lens. Details on sensor sizes are still unknown, but the shift to 200 MP alone hints at a serious emphasis on photography.

Other anticipated features include IP69 protection, a faster USB 3 port, and an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint scanner. If these specifications are confirmed, the OnePlus 16 could emerge as one of the brand's most powerful and technologically advanced smartphones in recent years.
