Leaks suggest the Huawei Pura X2 foldable smartphone will feature a larger screen, 200MP camera, and new Kirin processors. Learn about specs and improvements.
Huawei is preparing to continue developing one of the most unusual foldable smartphone concepts. According to a recent leak from Chinese insiders, the company is working on the Huawei Pura X2, the successor to the Pura X model, which in 2025 became the first wide-format foldable device. Instead of the usual elongated screen, the smartphone unfolded into a 16:10 aspect ratio display, creating a mini-tablet feel. Based on insider information, the Pura X2 will retain the original's overall idea but receive several notable improvements.
One of the most discussed updates will be a larger external screen, which will become significantly bigger and more convenient for quick actions without unfolding the device. Major changes are also expected in the cameras. Huawei may switch to a horizontal module with three or even four sensors, with the key update possibly being the inclusion of a 200-megapixel main camera. This could make the Pura X2 one of the most powerful camera phones among foldable models.
Inside, the smartphone is rumored to run on a new proprietary Kirin processor, with sources mentioning several variants immediately—the Kirin 9020, Kirin 9030, and Kirin 9030 Pro. In its unfolded state, the device will keep the 16:10 format, but the internal screen's diagonal will grow to 7.5 inches. It is also reported that the hinge will use technologies from the Mate X7, which could improve the construction's reliability.
Huawei plans to offer a wide selection of memory configurations: from 12 GB of RAM to a record 20 GB, while storage capacity may reach 1 TB. The smartphone will operate under HarmonyOS 6.1. For comparison, the first Pura X had a 6.3-inch internal screen, a 4720 mAh battery, and a starting price of 7,499 yuan, so the Pura X2 promises to be a larger and more powerful continuation of this unusual lineup.
