Discover the Final DX4000 CL headphones, featuring washi paper-carbon diaphragms for low distortion and an internal diffuser for airy sound, ideal for audiophiles.

Japanese company Final has unveiled the DX4000 CL, a new premium closed-back over-ear headphone model that promises an unusual combination: sound with the expansive feel of an "open stage" while maintaining complete isolation from the surroundings. The new product is aimed at audiophiles who value spacious music presentation without sound leakage.

The key engineering feature of the DX4000 CL is its drivers with diaphragms made from Japanese washi paper reinforced with carbon. This composite material combines lightness and rigidity, which should reduce distortion and improve sound accuracy. Final also uses a special internal diffuser with thin ribs that suppresses reflections inside the earcups and reduces resonances, helping to achieve a more "airy" sonic character.

For comfort, the headphones feature very thick earpads made from 30mm memory foam, and the housing construction emphasizes minimal vibration and low levels of parasitic noise. The company stresses that the model's goal is to approach the feeling of open-back headphones, but in a closed format suitable for home and studio use.

The DX4000 CL is also designed for field serviceability: they can be easily disassembled and individual components replaced, which is rare in the premium segment. The package includes a removable 2-meter cable with a 3.5mm connector and a 4.4mm adapter for more serious audio equipment.

Final DX4000 CL headphones are already available for order in Japan at a price of 128,000 yen (approximately $829), with deliveries starting on February 6, 2026. This new release strengthens Final's reputation as a brand that seeks unconventional materials and engineering solutions for the most natural sound possible.
