First photos of Sony's WF-1000XM6 earbuds show a redesigned capsule shape, active noise cancellation, and IPX4 rating. Expected to launch in 2026 with improved features.

The first photos of Sony's upcoming flagship WF-1000XM6 earbuds have surfaced online, suggesting a potential launch as early as February. These images, shared by Thai retailer Power Buy, show the device in black and silver color options. This leak provides the first substantial evidence that the successor to the WF-1000XM5 is indeed in the pipeline and will feature a noticeable redesign.

While technical specifications remain under wraps, the retailer confirmed the earbuds will retain active noise cancellation and a transparency mode, along with an IPX4 water resistance rating, matching the previous generation. The most significant change, however, is a completely refreshed exterior. The new WF-1000XM6 adopts a more capsule-like shape, presenting a sleeker, more modern profile.

Renderings also reveal a revised charging case, which appears narrower than the WF-1000XM5's. Its form is less rounded, potentially making it less ergonomic than its predecessor. Sony has also moved away from glossy plastic, opting for a matte finish that should improve in-hand feel and reduce fingerprint smudges.

Another notable detail is the new microphone system. The housing shows three external microphones, hinting at more advanced noise cancellation and improved call quality. Power Buy listed the WF-1000XM6 at approximately 11,990 baht (around $379), with expected prices in Europe and the U.S. set at €299.99 and $329.99, respectively.

If this leak proves accurate, the WF-1000XM6 could become one of Sony's key audio releases in 2026, offering not just a design overhaul but likely advancements in noise cancellation and overall usability.
