Chery's Wuyou Smart Police U001 autonomous vehicle, deployed with Wuhu City Police, uses drones and AI for real-time traffic monitoring, violation detection, and accident response.

Chery, in collaboration with the Wuhu City Police, has officially deployed the Wuyou Smart Police U001 autonomous vehicle, which is already operational on real roads. This new system will be utilized during the spring transportation peak and will form part of a comprehensive safety model integrating aerial, ground, and network-level control.

Integrated directly into patrol cars, the autonomous vehicle can take off and land while moving at speeds up to 30 km/h, marking an industry breakthrough. It features a hybrid zoom system with up to 160x magnification, voice announcement capabilities, and powerful lighting, enabling effective operation day and night on busy highways and urban thoroughfares.

At its core, the system combines multifunctional sensors with AI algorithms. The drone monitors traffic density in real time, detects violations such as illegal parking or lane usage, and transmits data to a control center. In challenging weather conditions like fog, rain, or snow, the aerial platform gives police an edge with its overhead view and driver warnings.

In practice, the Wuyou Smart Police U001 serves multiple roles. It is used for aerial patrols, helps manage congestion, quickly surveys accident scenes, and enables remote violation recording without stopping traffic. Essentially, the drone becomes a mobile surveillance and response tool, complementing ground crews.

Chery emphasizes that the project will not stop here. The company plans to continue developing automotive autonomous systems with government agencies, expanding their use in traffic management, emergency services, and public safety.
