Apple maintains lead in active smartphones in 2025, with one in four devices being an iPhone. Samsung, Xiaomi, and others follow in the global market rankings.

According to a Counterpoint Research report, Apple maintained its lead in the number of actively used smartphones in 2025. The analysis considered sales, user retention, device lifespan, and ecosystem loyalty. One in four active smartphones worldwide is an iPhone.

Apple and Samsung are the only manufacturers in the "billion active devices club," accounting for 44% of the global active smartphone market. In 2025, Apple launched more new models than the next seven major manufacturers combined.

Xiaomi ranked third in active users. Transsion Group moved into sixth place, driven by growth in Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia with its Tecno, itel, and Infinix brands. Huawei and Honor rounded out the top eight, with Honor boasting over 200 million active devices.

Motorola and Realme have not yet cracked the top eight, but analysts predict both brands will soon surpass 200 million active users.
