Samsung has started internal testing of One UI 9 on devices like the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Z Fold 8, based on Android 17, with details on specs and release.
Samsung hasn't released the stable version of One UI 8.5 yet, but the first signs of One UI 9 development have already appeared online. According to the latest information, the company has begun internal testing of the new interface on upcoming foldable smartphones, expected to launch in the second half of the year. Meanwhile, the final version of One UI 8.5 is anticipated to debut alongside the Galaxy S26 series in late February.
Insiders have discovered test firmware for several devices. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 with model number SM-F776U appeared with firmware version F776USQU0AZB1, which is linked to an early build of One UI 9. Similar designations have surfaced for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 (SM-F976U) and another mysterious foldable smartphone with model number SM-F971U. Additionally, reports indicate that One UI 9 is being tested on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, with build F966USQU8CZB3 pointing to active work on the new system version.
One UI 9 is expected to be based on Android 17, and Samsung's new foldable models could be the first devices to come with the interface pre-installed. Although their official announcement is still months away, leaks have already revealed some details. Rumor has it that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will feature a triple camera setup with a 200 MP main module, a 50 MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 12 MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom. The Z Flip 8, in turn, might be equipped with the new Exynos 2600 chip, built on a 2-nm process.
Another foldable device, codenamed H8, is generating particular interest, though very little is known about it so far. Samsung is reportedly preparing it in response to the potential launch of a foldable iPhone. Closer to summer, the company will likely reveal more details about both the new devices and the capabilities of One UI 9.
