Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone Fold in 2026, featuring a foldable design, nearly invisible crease, titanium body, and advanced cameras. Learn about specs and price.

Rumors about a foldable iPhone have circulated for years, but more sources now agree: Apple is indeed preparing to debut the device in 2026. The project has long been in development internally, and according to analysts and insiders, the new product might launch under the name iPhone Fold—a term already used by industry media. The editorial team at Пепелац Ньюс has compiled all available leaks into one report, outlining what this device could look like, poised to revolutionize the foldable smartphone market.

Fold Format and an Almost Invisible Crease

Reports indicate Apple has chosen a Fold-style form factor, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, rather than a clamshell Flip design. When folded, the device will resemble a standard iPhone with an external screen around 5.3–5.5 inches. Unfolded, users will get an inner display with a diagonal of roughly 7.7–7.8 inches—comparable to a compact iPad.

The body thickness when folded could be about 9–9.5 mm, while unfolded, it might be under 5 mm. To protect the screen, the company is reportedly considering using a transparent polyimide film over ultra-thin glass.

Special attention has been given to the crease issue. Sources claim Apple is using a metal plate to distribute bending stress evenly, with the hinge employing liquid metal made via die-casting. This should make the inner screen nearly free of a noticeable crease—a common weakness in most existing foldable devices.

Body, Cameras, and Moving Away from Face ID

The body of the iPhone Fold, according to various reports, will be made from titanium or a mix of titanium, stainless steel, or aluminum. This approach should enhance structural rigidity and reduce deformation risk.

For cameras, a dual rear module is expected, likely with two 48-megapixel sensors. Additionally, the device will have a front camera for folded use and a separate inner camera for tablet mode. Some sources mention an under-display camera on the inner screen and a cutout in the upper corner of the external display.

An interesting solution might be dropping Face ID. To save internal space, Apple is said to be integrating Touch ID into the power button—similar to what’s already done in the iPad Air and iPad mini.

Modem, Battery, and Battery Life

The foldable iPhone, according to Bloomberg, will get a C2 modem—the second generation of Apple’s in-house cellular chips. The device will probably support mmWave in the U.S. and might lack a physical SIM card slot.

It’s also reported that the new product will have the largest battery capacity among all iPhones. To achieve this, the company is optimizing internal layout by reducing display driver size and using higher-density batteries. The main focus will be on energy efficiency and battery life.

Price and Release Timeline

The expected price of the iPhone Fold sparks as much discussion as its specs. Various analysts cite a range from $1,800 to $2,500, potentially making it the most expensive iPhone ever. However, cost reductions in hinge production through optimized manufacturing could affect either the retail price or the company’s margins.

According to industry sources, the device has already passed engineering verification and production preparation stages. Mass production is planned for the second half of 2026, with a presentation possibly happening in the fall. Still, some analysts allow for a potential delay to 2027 if Apple decides to refine key design elements.

If the company can truly deliver a foldable smartphone without a noticeable crease, a durable hinge, and optimized iOS software, the iPhone Fold might not just be an experiment but a new milestone in Apple’s device lineup.
