Chinese smartphone manufacturers might be preparing a significant move toward hardware-based privacy protection. According to insider Digital Chat Station, several flagship models scheduled for release in September are testing a new private screen technology built directly into the display. This solution appears similar to what Samsung plans to introduce with the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Unlike conventional screen protectors or software filters, this new system operates at the display level itself. The screen is expected to limit viewing angles, reducing content visibility for people looking from the side. This approach could offer a more elegant alternative to external accessories and improve smartphone usability in public spaces.
Rumors suggest the first models with this technology might include the Xiaomi 18 and Vivo X500 series, expected this fall. These devices will likely feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Dimensity 9600 processors respectively. The feature may only be available in higher-end Ultra or Pro Max versions, similar to Samsung's flagship approach.
