ASUS confirms prices for its ROG Astral GPUs: RTX 5090 BTF at $3,499 and RTX 5080 Dhahab Core Edition at $1,899. Limited runs, designs—and rising controversy.
ASUS has officially revealed prices for its new ROG Astral graphics cards—the RTX 5090 BTF and the RTX 5080 Dhahab Core Edition—which have quickly become a talking point among gamers and hardware enthusiasts.
The RTX 5090 BTF is a special variant with a hidden power connector, previously spotted in European stores starting at €3,000. ASUS now pegs the U.S. price at $3,499. There is also a Middle East–exclusive Dhahab version—the name translates from Arabic as gold—featuring gold-plated accents. With a limited run and costly materials, it swiftly ranked among the priciest cards on the market.
Following that, the company introduced the RTX 5080 Dhahab Core Edition. Unlike the gold-accented 5090, there is no real gold here, yet the price still lands at $1,899—roughly $50 more than the Astral White model. It serves as a more attainable pick for those who want the Dhahab look without paying for premium materials.
ASUS is also rolling out several other limited versions of these cards, available only through regional campaigns and giveaways. Even so, experts argue that a 75–90% markup this long after launch feels excessive, with pricing edging toward the absurd. Judging by the latest tags, that assessment is hard to dismiss.
