OnePlus 16 rumors reveal major upgrades in design and hardware

Even though the OnePlus 15 has just been released, online discussions are already buzzing with early leaks about the company's next flagship. According to new information, the OnePlus 16 could represent a significant leap forward in several areas. One of the most talked-about features is its extremely thin display bezels, which might set a new standard for the market.

Insider Old Chen Air claims the bezel width on the OnePlus 16 could be less than 1 mm. For comparison, the OnePlus 15 measures about 1.15 mm, while devices like the Galaxy S25 Ultra have bezels around 1.3 mm. At first glance, the difference seems minor, but in the premium segment, even tenths of a millimeter matter. Reducing the bezels could increase the screen-to-body ratio by roughly 1% and create a more seamless visual experience, especially when paired with a rumored 240 Hz refresh rate.

Beyond design, rumors point to serious hardware upgrades for the OnePlus 16. The smartphone is expected to feature a battery with up to 9,000 mAh capacity using Glacier Battery technology, which was already employed in the previous model. It also mentions a 200-megapixel main camera module and a new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor. Insiders suggest the company might eliminate the built-in cooling fan to maintain a slim profile despite the large battery.

If the sub-1 mm bezel claim holds true, the OnePlus 16 could become the first mainstream flagship with an almost invisible border between screen and body. As manufacturers compete on performance, battery life, and display tech, this move could set a new benchmark for the entire industry. The official launch is expected this fall, when we'll see just how ambitious OnePlus's plans translate into a real device.
