Huawei's tri-fold Mate XTs launches Sept 4 in China with Kirin 9020, Tiangong hinge, 50MP variable-aperture camera and a lower 15,000 yuan starting price.

Huawei has officially pinned down the launch date for its new flagship: the tri-fold Mate XTs will be unveiled in China on September 4 at 2:30 p.m. local time. According to insiders, the device is in line for notable gains in performance, camera hardware, and build quality, along with a more flexible pricing strategy.

The Mate XTs becomes Huawei’s second two-hinge model. It will arrive in fresh colors—white and purple-red—with the white finish fronting the main advertising push. Under the hood sits the Kirin 9020 paired with Maleoon 920 graphics and support for satellite connectivity.

One of the headline upgrades is the proprietary Tiangong Hinge, designed for greater durability and a subtler display crease—exactly the kind of refinement foldables benefit from most. The camera centers on a 50-megapixel main sensor with a variable aperture and Red Maple technology for more accurate color reproduction, complemented by a periscope telephoto lens for quality zoom. The smartphone will also support stylus input.

Given the success of its predecessor, the Mate XT, which sold more than 500,000 units, analysts forecast that the Mate XTs could edge toward one million. Pricing is expected to start at 15,000 yuan (about $2,060), notably below the previous model’s launch price—an unmistakable sign of a more assertive push to broaden the appeal of this form factor.
