Apple will launch OLED MacBook Pro models with M6 chips in Q4 2026, using Samsung’s 14- and 16-inch panels. Production starts Q3; pricing may shape adoption.

Apple is gearing up to release its first MacBook Pro models with OLED displays and M6‑series chips, with Samsung set to serve as the sole display supplier. Samsung Display chief Lee Cheon said mass production of 14‑ and 16‑inch OLED panels for the MacBook Pro will start in the third quarter of 2026, a timeline that aligns with an expected notebook launch in the fourth quarter—right in time for the holiday rush.

Early batches will be assembled sooner, in the second quarter, on the retooled A6 line. Even so, the new 8.6G line, which uses larger glass substrates, is viewed as the optimal setup for high‑volume production of laptop‑class OLED panels. The displays are expected to include an integrated touch layer, and the notebooks themselves are set to run on faster M6 processors.

Analysts expect Apple to sell around half a million of these MacBook Pros by the end of 2026, with total orders potentially reaching three million units, depending on Samsung’s panel pricing. For now, MacBook Pro models with the M4 chip start at $1,399, while versions with M5—and especially those with OLED screens—are poised to cost more. Pricing, as usual, will likely determine how quickly OLED takes hold across the lineup.

Answering questions from reporters in Seoul, the head of Samsung Display confirmed the company is ready to handle Apple’s orders. He declined to comment on the timing of a foldable iPhone, for which Samsung is also preparing panels.
