Steam’s September 2025 survey: mobile RTX 4060 leads, Windows 11 hits 66.08%. AMD rises to 41.31% as Intel dips. Six-core CPUs fall; eight-core share grows.

Steam shared the findings of its September 2025 survey on players’ software and hardware. The mobile RTX 4060 once again leads the GPU field, adding 0.22%. The desktop RTX 4060, meanwhile, gave up 0.6% and slipped from first to third place — a shuffle within the 4060 family that feels telling.

On operating systems, Windows 11 jumped 2.9% to reach 66.08%. Windows 10 fell by almost the same amount (-2.96%) to 33.74%. With Microsoft ending Windows 10 support in October, the swing looks unsurprising and nudges more users toward Windows 11.

In CPUs, AMD added 1.15% to reach 41.31%, while Intel lost the same share, landing at 58.61%. For the first time, six-core CPUs dropped below 30%, as eight-core options strengthened to 25.28% — a clear sign of a shift toward more powerful gaming builds.
