Samsung delays stable One UI 8.5 release, continuing beta tests for Galaxy S25, S24, S23, and foldable models. Learn about the latest updates and expected timelines.
According to recent leaks, Samsung appears to be taking its time with the stable release of One UI 8.5. The interface debuted alongside the Samsung Galaxy S26 series in February, with expectations that it would roll out to older devices by March. Instead, users have only received a series of beta updates.
Leaked information from platform X suggests testing will continue through April. Specifically, the Samsung Galaxy S25 series is slated for at least two more betas—the ninth this week and the tenth around the third week of the month. A stable build still lacks a firm release date.
Other devices remain in the testing program as well. The Samsung Galaxy S24 and Samsung Galaxy S23 are expected to get two beta updates each in April. The foldable models, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, will be limited to one new beta build.
If the leak holds true, a stable release of One UI 8.5 clearly won't happen in April. This could disappoint Galaxy S25 owners while pushing back update timelines for other devices in the Galaxy lineup. Interestingly, the delay comes amid relatively stable recent beta versions, which haven't shown critical bugs. It's possible Samsung is deliberately holding off on the final version to continue optimizing the system before a broader rollout.
