Apple's iOS 26.4.1 update for iPhone 11 and newer fixes an iCloud sync bug and enables theft protection automatically for enterprise devices.

Apple has released iOS 26.4.1 today for the iPhone 11 and newer models. While the official release notes only mention bug fixes, sources quickly clarified two specific changes. First, an iCloud sync bug found in iOS 26.4, which affected some apps, has been fixed.

Second, an Apple support document for the enterprise segment states that the theft protection feature is now automatically enabled on devices updating from iOS 26.4 to iOS 26.4.1. For regular users, this feature is already on by default, but in corporate environments, it had previously remained disabled.

The theft protection feature, introduced in iOS 17.3, enhances security if an iPhone is stolen and the thief knows the passcode. For critical actions like viewing iCloud passwords, erasing data, or using Apple Card or payment methods in Safari, biometric authentication via Face ID or Touch ID is required. There is no backup password if authentication cannot be completed.

Special actions, such as changing an Apple ID password, have an added layer of protection with a delay: after initial authentication, users must wait one hour and repeat the process. This delay does not apply to familiar locations like home or work, making device use both convenient and secure.
