Leaked renders show CMF Phone 3 with modular camera and swappable lenses. Nothing may test new ideas, for photographers and shaking smartphones.
Leaked renders of the upcoming CMF Phone 3 suggest Nothing is getting ready to challenge smartphone norms once again. According to insiders, the device may introduce a distinctive modular camera system, with lenses that attach and detach right in the housing via dedicated mounts on the camera block.
The images show an industrial look with visible screws, a matte body, and the brand’s signature orange accent. The real intrigue, though, is the camera setup: users would be able to swap lenses to match the task at hand—an ultrawide for trips, a telephoto for distant scenes, or a macro module for fine detail.
There’s no official confirmation from Nothing yet, but rumors indicate the CMF Phone 3 is set to serve as an experimental testbed where the company trials bold ideas before bringing them to its main lineup. The concept feels both ambitious and surprisingly practical, the kind of move that could give the category a needed jolt if carried through well.
Insiders describe the device as a modular smartphone tailored for photographers, and if the reports hold up, it could end up as one of 2025’s most unusual launches.
