Google Pixel 11 could feature advanced M16 OLED display first

Google is preparing a significant update to its Pixel 11 smartphone lineup, and according to leaks, the company could for the first time surpass Apple and Samsung in a key component: the display. This involves the new generation of Samsung M16 OLED panels, which have traditionally debuted in iPhone Pro models or Galaxy flagships.

Recent information suggests the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold may be the first devices with this technology. This opportunity arises from shifted release timelines: Google plans to introduce the new models in August, while the iPhone 18 Pro is expected later, and the Galaxy S27 won't arrive for several more months.

The new M16 panel promises noticeable improvements in key parameters: brightness, energy efficiency, and color accuracy. This is particularly important given growing demands for device autonomy, as AI-based features increasingly strain smartphone hardware.

Beyond the display, the Pixel 11 may receive other significant upgrades. Expectations include a transition to the new Tensor G6 processor built on a 2-nanometer process, along with the use of a MediaTek M90 modem. The latter could address long-standing issues with call quality and signal stability in the lineup.
