Leak reveals OnePlus might enter portable gaming with a device using a modified Dimensity 9500 chip and enhanced Mali GPU for console-like performance.

OnePlus may be entering the portable gaming device market, according to a new leak that reveals potential specifications for the upcoming gadget. Digital Chat Station, an insider source, claims the device will focus heavily on performance and could compete with existing gaming solutions.

The console is reportedly based on a modified Dimensity 9500 chip. Special attention has been paid to the graphics subsystem: the reworked Mali G1-Ultra MC12 GPU is said to deliver performance close to that of gaming consoles, and without overclocking.

The insider notes that graphics optimization represents a significant step forward, giving the device a potential advantage over competitors. This matters because improved Mali graphics support in emulators is gradually making MediaTek chips more appealing for gaming.

Even the standard Dimensity 9500 handles most modern Android games well, though it struggles with PC game emulation. In practice, the modified version could approach the performance level of a hypothetical Dimensity 9600, significantly expanding the device's gaming capabilities.

For now, these remain rumors. OnePlus has not officially confirmed development of a portable console, and the project might never reach release. Overall, the picture is straightforward: the leak hints at the company's ambition to enter a new market segment.
