YouTube introduces a feature to hide Shorts videos by setting a zero-minute viewing limit, removing them from your feed. Learn how to disable Shorts and manage viewing restrictions.

YouTube is rolling out a new feature that lets users completely hide Shorts videos from their feed. The platform now allows setting a viewing limit of zero minutes, effectively removing this content format from the mobile app. Previously, YouTube had tested a restriction system where users could set daily viewing limits for Shorts, but the minimum value was 15 minutes. After that time expired, a reminder would appear suggesting a break.

Later, the company expanded the feature by adding it to parental controls, allowing guardians to limit viewing time for minors. At that time, YouTube also promised to give users the ability to completely reset the timer to zero—and now this option is available to all users. When activating this mode, a notification may appear stating that Shorts scrolling is paused, though individual videos can still be opened manually. In some cases, enabling the feature may require updating the app.

The setting is located in the YouTube mobile app within the time management section: users need to open "Daily limits" and find the option related to Shorts limits. In addition to complete disabling, other restriction options are available, with a maximum limit of two hours per day.
